Preview: “The Infection Monologues” in LA

Over the past 30 years, the fight against HIV/AIDS has come a long way. However, the stigma toward people living with the virus remains. Sometimes, it is this prejudice and stigma that causes the most emotional harm. To achieve a new level of understanding, therefore, we need to close the doors on fear and intolerance, and instead embrace the desire to learn from and connect with those who live with HIV.

With a racially diverse cast, “The Infection Monologues,” presented by The Wall-Las Memorias and the Lambda Literary Foundation, attempts to do just that. Showcasing the lived experiences of Hugo, Jack, Eddie and Jeremy, four HIV-positive gay men between the ages of 20 and 50, through a mixture of humor and seriousness, the highly-anticipated “Infection Monologues” will captivate its audience by placing a human face on HIV today.

The Los Angeles presentation of “The Infection Monologues” will run Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5. Proceeds will benefit the Lambda Literary Foundation and The Wall-Las Memorias.
