The National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) is hosting its 7th annual Queer Prom for Chicago LGBTQ youth, on Friday, May 27, 2011. Presented by Radio Arte’s youth produced radio programs Homofrecuencia and Qphonic, this event has solidified itself as a safe and affirming space for Chicago’s LGBTQ youth.

This year’s theme, “Orgullosamente Feroz / Unapologetically Fierce” is inspired by the activism of queer youth around LGBTQ and immigration rights.

The evening will include food and beverages, complimentary make-up sessions, live performances and music by DJ Ang G. In addition, LGBTQ organizations will be present to provide critical information on services in the community as well as to provide HIV/AIDS testing, for those interested. Adult LGBTQ-youth allies are highly encouraged to attend to show their support for Queer Prom.
